Does anyone know the size of the spindle nut on the D60's? (I'm wondering if they're all the same) This would be for my 97 350. I did some searching on here, but can't seem to find much confirmation of the size socket that I'll need. The spindle nut on my 250 (yes, 250) is the 3 piece kind with the little lock washer with all the holes in it in between the two nuts. The spindle nut socket for that one has the prongs that stick out and go in the grooves on the nut . On my 350, it looks like a regular hex head nut (no slots or grooves). I'm trying to find the size of that hex head spindle nut without having to buy a few different sockets to see which one fits. Anyone know right off? Thanks.
Hold your left hand up as though you are looking at the back your hand. Bend your pointer finger at the middle knuckle to a 90 degree angle. Take note of the distance between the tip of your pointer finger, and the tip of your thumb.................bout that big.
1/2 dr.4 lug internal 75mm X 80mm locknut socket.
Dana 50 front axle.
(tool sticker says 85-95)
GreatNeck #33625966
sold at autozone.
D50 uses D60 outer parts.so spindle nut socket will be the same.
very strange your reporting that your f250 4x4 doesn't share the same spindle nuts as your f350 4x4.maybe you need to look again?
maybe they did something strange in '97 im unaware of too.
edit,oh maybe you still have those stupid auto lockers on your 250 (i can't believe those lasted! you must not use 4wd often lol.)

Definitely not the same. No auto lockers on either truck. Both are manual hubs. Like I said, the 250 has the 3 piece nuts - the one with all the studs on it, then the washer that fits into the key way that has all the holes in it that lines up with said studs on first nut, then the outer nut that tightens down on the first two which has notches cut out in it, and the spindle socket has the notches to match. The 350 one looks like a regular hex nut. Haven't taken it off yet too see it completely (hence this thread to find the size of the nut).

Thanks Randy! I appreciate the offer, and thanks for the info. But I think Bill was wanting to get one anyway so he had one. I'm just seeing if anyone knows the size. I told him I was gonna buy one, and he said "Don't bother, I'll get one so I have it." I said "even if I buy one." He said "Yeah." I'll probably donate it to his shop to help repay some of the dues I owe him!
You getting ready to work on the front axle or just looking for info? I just put ball joint on one side and need to do the other on the green Ford. Red one needs spring bushings replaced all around and shocks. Too much to do, not enough time.
Thanks, thought I needed to spruce up my ID a little. This was the best one I found. Got a couple others that are good, not sure if they are appropriate though. Dont want to get kicked out of here. That pic is actually a sticker you can buy.
