98 5.4 Expedition stuck in Anti theft Mode
Hello All,
I am rebuilding a 98 Expedition with a 5.4. Tonight I put in a new steering Column and now the thing will not start. I think it is stuck in anti theft mode. Does anyone know how to get around this?

The truck when I got it, had a shorted ignition and a loose Steering Column. So what I did was replace the whole steering Column with ignition and all.
The Expedition started and ran fine before a I changed the Column and Ignition. The Ignition had to be changed because the old one was shorted out.
Here is what is going on, 1. Truck turns over but will not fire.
2. Anti theft light is now on.

Are you using the original key for the vehicle or the one that might have come with the replacement column?
Your vehicle's security system needs to see the original key in the ignition cylinder in order to start.

Well that's why. The replacement key is not programed into the PATS on your truck.
