Classic normal bulb or a LED?
In which condition are the contacts?. Maybe corroded?
Replacement bulb is incandescent lamp. Wire leading to bulb socket not getting power. Could this be a problem with the multi-function switch (turn signal) on the steering column?
Start with making sure your ground is good. See if you flasher will work the bulb. Before you open anything else move the new bulb to the other side make sure it works as it should. Or move a bulb you know works to here.
Thanks for your input. I'm thinking we need to solve the no power to the socket issue before looking into any ground issue.
Is this problem with the right front indicator in any way related to the steering column wiring chafing problems or should we look elsewhere? (RF parking light illuminates, but no turn signal/emergency flasher on RF)
Ok, this was the problem: right rear turn signal lamp would flash at double speed, no right front turn signal and no instrument panel indication for right turn signal. Emergency flashers would work except for r.f. lamp.
The problem ended up being in the steering column. Anyone care to venture a guess as to what the problem was?
The problem was the multi-function switch connector. I talked to the PO and he said he had the same issue which he resolved by using a zip-tie to hold it together. Sure enough, I took the plastic covers off the steering column and when I pressed the connector onto the multi-function switch the r.f. turn signal lamp and the instrument panel indicator both worked as they should. So I added another zip-tie, this one more to the right side of the connector, however that appears to interfere with the top plastic cover so I've trimmed it back at the hole where the emergency flasher button protrudes through.
