replacing 55 f100 front cab mounts

I am replacing the front cab mounts on my 55 f100. I have the bolts out and now i am confused. what is the best way to take out the rubber mounts. And are the wings mounted to the bushing? I was thinking putting a 2 x4 with a floor jack and jack the cab enough to clear bushing out.

look at pg. 116 in the mid fifty catalog. Mid Fifty F-100 Parts - Home If what you have is all original then I'll suspect the lower retainer is rusted to the frame wing and the both rubber pads are stuck or fused to the mounts. The lower retainer and both rubber pads are separate pieces on a new mount assembly.

A lot depends on the condition of the wings. If your wings are rotted, bent, saggy you will have to address them first. They where riveted on originally from the factory. They are the supports which effects everything with the cab and front end sheet metal. You should be able to lift with a jack and 4X4, just be careful. Look at the metal cups that hold the bushings and look at the floor support areas of the cab. All of that can deform, rot, sag over time. Like DAS said, check out Mid 50 catalog, they have a good a diagram. Good luck!

DON'T Jack to high... LOL
