i got some new preshaped sheet metal today to repair my cab mounts. whats the best way to do this? my grandfather was saying to get a few guys to lift the cab off the frame and do it that way. sounded a little extensive to me. i was thinging about using 2 jack with wood on them to spread out the weight and put them up at the same time until we had enough room to weld them on. what do you all think?
I've replaced the cab mounts and floor pans on my 71 f250 4x4 all I did was jack up both sides of the front of the cab and put wood blocks under the body to keep the body off the frame enough to work on the cab mounts I cut out what was left of them and laid my new pans in and welded them in then I started on the can mounts slid them in place where they lined up with the frame perch and welded them in then where did you get your new pans at? Are your floors good just need the cab mounts?
no i just got the cab mounts...the floors need replacing too but i dont have the money. haha 19 and working as a server. hard to do anything with $2.13/h... just want to give this thing in a safer driving feel.
If the floors need replacing I would do them at the same time as the cab mounts are welded to the bottom of the floor pans when its time to do the floor pans you will need to redo the cab mounts is wait until you have enough money for the floor pans and do them at the same time just my way I'd do it if it were me I had a hassle doing my cab mounts the first time I sure don't want to do it again
Whoever owned my `71 before I got it did an excellent job replacing the cab mounts. Unfortunately, he/she didn`t do the floorpans first... LOL luckily, the section needing to be replaced is behind the mounts on both sides.
