I beam suspension

New to site, investigating older ford trucks with I beam suspension, what I am wondering is what years did Ford make its I beams "equal length" I think it was in the 70's but what exact year range. Thanks

they went to the twin I-bean suspension in the early/mid 60's, and they've always been equal length in the 2wd I-beam suspensions.

The vans have unequal length I-Beams because of the engine offset, at least in the -85+ body style.

Are you sure on that? from 1980-1996 the 2 wheel drive I beams if taken off the truck and measured, one of them is longer than the other

Vans actually have equal length beams I believe, along with late 70s pickups and camper special

I pulled a set of TIB's from an 85 E350 last year and they were very definitely NOT the same length by several inches, not just a small difference,

TIB's were introduced in 65. My 64 had a straight axle.

Slide up under and measure the distance from the spring center bolt to the pivot bolt on both sides. If it is close you can proabably make it work. Watch out for differences in the steering linkage and box setup tho.
