So I decided to paint my fender flares to match the bottom trim color of my truck. I painted my fender flares black about a year ago, but they just didn't hold there color and they were fading and just looking bad again, so I decided to do it right this time and I am very happy with the results.

These are the products I used:
- Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter. One can was enough for three light coats.
- 3 cans of DupliColor T299 Dark Shadow Gray paint. Around $7ea at Advanced Auto Parts. Part# BFM0360. I was able to get 3-4 light coats on each piece with 3 cans.
- 2 cans of Krylon Clear Coat. Enough for 3 light coats on all pieces. I used the Glossy finish, as opposed to a Flat or Matte finish, since the glossy would match better with the factory paint.
- I also washed each piece really well, then roughed them up with some sand paper, then washed them again and finally prepped the surface with some Mineral Spirits before applying the adhesion promoter.

Pictures aren't to great because of the super-sun hitting my truck and making the paint look much darker than it really is. In fact, you almost can't tell a difference right now because of the sun. Plus it is dirty . Luckily, the other side looked much better and you can see the match.

Looks pretty good. It's kinda funny, your painting yours to get away from the black, and I'm thinking about painting the entire bottom of my truck black.

 

Haha, yea. I love the two-tone/contrast of colors on my truck. The black looked fine, I just knew the matched fender flares would look even better and they do. I thought of going the "blackout" route once, but I decided otherwise. I've thought of Line-X as well, but it was way to expensive. I did all of this for around $45.
