I am installing a 1963 390 FE out of a 63 Galaxy into my 66 ford f100 4X4. I have the motor in and hooked up to the tranny and the headers are also on. I am running into a problem trying to get the motor mounts to work out. I figured I would have to do some modifying to the brackets but it ends up it will be quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with doing this or is there a company that makes a retro fit for the old truck? thanks
The 63 390 has only 2 bolt holes in the block for the motor mounts, so the newer mounts that you need will not bolt on. The last time I put a older 390 into a 66 F100, I made a adapter plate out 1/4" plate steel. It bolted to the engine and the new motor mounts bolted to it.
I just purchase the ff427 sanderson headers and they will not clear my passenger side motor mount on my f100 with 390 FE. Did you have any problems with this.

I had no problem at all with the motor mounts! But I swapped in a different Motor Mount system a few years previous, that I got from CPP. It has it's own cross member that sits in front of the Sanderson headers, and bolts right on to the frame rails and block.. I used the CPP kit because it gave better torsional rigidity, in turn eliminating the engine shift from side to side due to torque. With new motor mounts and the cross member kit it was about $150. It took about 2-3 hours to install
