1966 f100 4X4 240 six to 390 FE

I am installing a 1963 390 FE out of a 63 Galaxy into my 66 ford f100 4X4. I have the motor in and hooked up to the tranny and the headers are also on. I am running into a problem trying to get the motor mounts to work out. I figured I would have to do some modifying to the brackets but it ends up it will be quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with doing this or is there a company that makes a retro fit for the old truck? thanks

Move the perches to the back set of holes. The I6 and FE perch are the same in the four wheel drives. As in the 2 wheel drives.

The 63 390 has only 2 bolt holes in the block for the motor mounts, so the newer mounts that you need will not bolt on. The last time I put a older 390 into a 66 F100, I made a adapter plate out 1/4" plate steel. It bolted to the engine and the new motor mounts bolted to it.

Yeah Garbz is on the mark here, the option is a swap kit such as Classic Car and Truck Brake, Steering and Suspension Parts
this CPP unit is just one of many... Speedway has one, as does J.C.Whitney, and John's F-Fun hundreds. CPP also has the motor mounts to fit this kits, you can use the late 50's Ford Galaxy mounts they also fit the FE blocks, it is a way around the problem that Bertha was mentioning. I also opted for the Sanderson FE headers one look and you will understand why... The Sanderson FF427 header set is designed to fit 1953-Up Ford F100 pickups using the Ford 332-428 FE engines.

I just purchase the ff427 sanderson headers and they will not clear my passenger side motor mount on my f100 with 390 FE. Did you have any problems with this.

I had no problem at all with the motor mounts! But I swapped in a different Motor Mount system a few years previous, that I got from CPP. It has it's own cross member that sits in front of the Sanderson headers, and bolts right on to the frame rails and block.. I used the CPP kit because it gave better torsional rigidity, in turn eliminating the engine shift from side to side due to torque. With new motor mounts and the cross member kit it was about $150. It took about 2-3 hours to install
