An online search revealed that a nearby junkyard has a couple sets of what they call front v-code springs. If I go look at them, how do I verify them as v-code or any other code?
Also, I keep reading about modified rear b-code springs but how and why would would you modify them?

You make a modifed B by taking the two shortest leaves from the Excursion spring packs and add them to the B code spring pack, placing the leaves from the Excursion springs between the shortest leaf of the B code, and the bottom overload leaf.
Also, take out sheet metal spacers that came on the B codes and replace them with the 1/8" thick spacers from the Excursion springs.
