I have a '93 F-150 XLT 5.0. just did a brake job to get her back on the road for winter.
While under the truck doing other stuff i noticed the radius arm bushings are LOOSE. i can actually pick up/push up the radius arm. Of course now i notice when gently applying the brake my truck lunges. the truck had polyerethene bushings installed before i inherited it. can i easily just tighten the bushings, and if so where do i posistion the radius arm before tightening. If not what is the solution here. Thank you for the help, i'm pretty sure this is obvious and i'm just overthinking it. feel free to raz me about it.
You should not be able to move the radius arm at all. If its that loose that you can move it, then you really need new bushings. They are self centering and should hold the radius arm tightly in place, and to move the arm you must compress the rubber or poly bushing.
I have rubber bushings and next time the front end comes apart im going to poly. the rubber is far to soft and lets the front end move to much for my liking.
