1987 F-150 custom (in my sig)
hit a deer this morning and i would like to know if the core support is welded on or bolted on, or if it would be eaisier to replace the whole front clip (and if that is welded or bolted to the firewall/body)
Core support bolts in, but it can be a bit of work. Where are you located, my son, Archion, has a neighbor who is parting out an 89 this weekend. They're talking about cutting the core support if it's in the way of pulling the 351 and 4 speed. They are in WV.
Its very easy to pull the whole front clip at once... There are 4 bolts on the rear of each fender(two from the top under the hood, one about the middle of the door, have to have door half open, and come from the inside of it. one one the very bottom.) than just your two radiator support mounts.. easy as pie.

if its that easy ill just pull the whole front clip, i think the inner fender on the side i hit are bowed,
lol i hit it hard enough to break the turn signal bulb holder OUT OF ITS SOCKET on the OTHER side of the truck, lol that takes alot of force
Do I need to pull the fenders first?
cus I looked threw the door (from inside the cab) and i only saw one bolt on the very bottom and it looked like it holds the fender on
There is one bolt at the bottom rear of the fender, one inside the back that is visible just above the lower door hinge (it takes a fairly long extension) and two on the top between the hood hinge and spring. BTW, unless you need to take the hood off, support it from something on the engine and take the spring bolts out.
Your front mudguards on the running boards have to be removed and there is a bolt with a big washer at the back inside above the frame that holds the inner fender to the cab. You will need to take the bulkhead connector for the wiring harness and unplug anything on the front harness like the wiper motor, underhood light that isn't coming off with the front sheet metal. I have a couple of pictures of my 86 with the left fender off if they will help.
