I have a 1992 7.3 diesel that has been having starting problems when it gets warm for a few years now. I've replaced everything I know to replace and talked to anyone I know to talk to, including a few shops. The verdict is that I need an injection pump.
Does anyone know of a good and reliable source to get one of these pumps for a reasonable price? So far every place I've found locally has been way out of our budget.
pensecola is who i used and so far so good, i just recently swapped it, but it is working fine and i have heard many on hear say good things about them.
You can also try Oriellys. They have remaned pumps as well for about the same price and it would be a local purchase. This makes returns if needed alot easier. Besides I prefer to keep my money as local as possible. I know they are a national chain store but the guys that work there live right here as well.
Thanks for telling me about O'Reilly's. There not one here but there is one about 50 miles north.
I searched and didn't find any answers to my next question. Does anyone know what is the difference between the up to 2/92 and from 3/92 pumps other than over $100 more? My truck was built 3/92.
We went witht he pump and installation kit from Pensicola Diesel. The guy there was very knowledgable and they don't even have a core charge on this particular pump. Should be here Friday, installed Saturday and if all is well, I'll let ya all know. If it doesn't go well, Steve'll be back with more questions.
