I found a 429 and C6 just lying around. Has anyone put one of these in a 2 wheel drive dent? I'm sure they have or I wouldn't be bothering you guys. I should say, has anyone put a 429 in one of our trucks with AC? Will it fit under the AC unit on the left side? I have a perfectly good 302 that runs great in it now but I would like a toy to tinker with but didn't want to waste my money if I couldn't use it. Any and all help would be appreciated.

It's no bigger than a 460, my 79 f150 2/wheel drive , factory air with big box in engine compartment. Cleared it all, came from the factory that way. Spark plugs are hard to get to , but thats the way they came.
Kinda funny on my part. I took the 302 out of my 79 f-100 last spring and put the 460 in. Now I'm getting ready to pull the 460 out and put the 302 back in. For the 18mpg instead of the 10 with the 460.But like I said in the second post ,it will fit.
The engine mounts on the frame are different and you'll need a bigger radiator and hoses, other than that it's not a bad swap to do and as said clearance is not an issue. Your exhaust will need to be modified weather it's duals or Y pipe type. If you go with a spread bore intake and carb you get get pretty good fuel milage out of one if you don't pound on it too much.
They will need to be from a truck, f150 -250-350 , I'm not sure what years you can use other than the 73-79 ones . There are several aftermarket companies making them if you can't find a set. Somebody on here may have a set they will sell you.
You can put the 460 in and use the 302 frame mounts. My 79 f-100 is sitting on 302 frame pedestals,it's a little more work. Before i made the change i had the 460 in a 79 bronco, sold it and kept the 460. I used a spacer plate and some passenger car 390 motor mounts to install it in the bronco, basicaly like the custom mounts you buy. I looked at them and they are welded in to one part, where mine is a two part bolted together.I made mine about 12 years ago and are still in good shape. When it came time to do the f-100 , i could not find my 460 mounts, i found them later. so i reshaped the 302 mount holes a little and dropped the 460 down on the.It worked good for several years in the bronco and was a cheap way to do it.
