Front hood ornament

Hi everyone, I have a question about the front hood ornament from a 51 F1. Firstly, I assume it's made of pot metal. Is that Zinc? Anyway, I bought one on ebay last year. It's in better shape than the one that came on the truck but I couldn't tell from the pics that it's dented where the F is one ornament. So my questions are, can it be heated and straightened or will it crack? The chrome is pitted so I will have to have it re chromed or can it be powder coated? I'm having my bumpers powder coated and I wanted the ornament to match. Chroming the bumpers is too much $$$. Any suggestions on filling the pits other than the "muddy weld" stuff in that thread? Will the "muddy weld" work with powder coating? Thanks, Dean

The large front hood nose trim on the 51 is "Pot Metal." Removing the dent will be really tough. But if you are powder coating, the dent can be filled, feathered out, and coated.

Powder coating is simply a material that is sprayed then baked on. So whatever you use to fill should be fairly heat resistant, and non pourous!
