I Recently purchased a 1993 F250 with a 7.3 IDI and a banks sidewinder turbo. the motor was seized when I bought it , but I swaped out another motor and since I have dialed it in, it has been running great. The guy I bought it from said the tranny had about 20k on a rebuild, but the reciept he said he had for it never materialized. So heres whats happening. When it's cold, it shifts flawlessly. 1-4 smooth no problems. After it warms up though if your're on the throttle at all it shifts pretty hard, seems to rev a little too much and then drops into gear somewhat heavy. If I back of the throttle at each shift it glides smoothly into gear. The truck is rarely loaded as it was purched as a fifth wheel hauler which is parked and getting a makeover of its own right now, so this is happening with no payload at all. Any insight. The fluig is perhaps a little overfilled. It is hard to tell with the worthless dipstick it has! I can barely make out a fluid line on it! Any tricks for that? Thanks all.
Have you checked the FIPL (TPS) yet? It may need to be adjusted. And check to see if you have the Banks Trans Command unit (should be down on the frame near the trans. The wiring loom should run to it). See if you have the bypass plug and maybe run without the TC to see if it's having issues. Other than that maybe pull all the connectors and clean them?
if you didn't keep the banks,or don't plan on putting it on send me a pm with a price for it would ya?
(don't do so here.this should have been a pm too lmao, but you'll need to post a few more times for a total of 25 posts PLUS 24 hr waiting period after your 25th posts before pms work.i'll wait for ya lol.just post a few more telling others you like their truck or something.)
thx.
Sorry fordf250, I re-installed the banks and I love it. GenLIi I do have a banks trans control. I will find out more about checking the TPS later and see if there is a plug to bypass the TC but my hands are kinda full right now. Thanks.
