Hey guys,
Just picked myself up some L&L fender exit headers. As I knew would happen, I had to trim some here and move some stuff around but the biggest problem I have is the driver side header is hitting the shock mount. Has anyone else had this issue? I was thinking about moving the shock to the front of the axle but it looks like it'll get in the way of the drag link and pitman arm. Anyone got suggestions? Worst come to worst, I'll shave off the part that is hitting and box it all back in with plate steel. Thanks in advance!
I don't know if it plays into your issues but the engine on my rig was tilted such that I cracked the Z-bar bracket and enough that I couldn't get a socket or wrench on the engine perch bolt... had to plasma cut a quarter-sized piece off the perch, unbolt, and rotate it.
Have you called L&L and told them about the problem ? They probably would give you another header.
It doesn't look like there's any flaws in the header so I don't know why they would give me a new one?

I'm not totally following you. Are you talking the Z-bar that is for the clutch linkage?
The cracked Z-bar bracket was a caused by the misalignment of the engine being tilted (as in left to right or vice versa). The engine perches are slotted about one inch and my FE wasn't sitting level. Again, I am not sure whether it applies to your clearance problems so it's more of an FYI.

Now that you brought that up, it is very possible. One of the PO had a shop do all the work to it(lift, tires, axles and 460 swap). Apparently the shop thought it was a better idea to cut the frame for the alternator and exhaust manifold(which didn't need clearance) and oblong the engine mounts. The engine is actually sitting forward about a half an inch to an inch due to their fine engineering skills. I'm this is what is most likely causing my issue. Thanks for the help! Looks like I'll be getting new engine perches and motor mounts.

I would still call them and tell them it doesn't fit. You payed big money for them and expected quality. I don't see why they wouldn't make it right with you ?
I had 2 78 4x4 F250s with 460 in them. Wh had the same problem on both. We ended up oblonging the holes in the shock tower to get the clearence needed. Its your easiest fix. Oh they tend to rub the bottom of your front cab mounts. You might have to trim them a little. You almost wonder if they test fit anything when the design headers.
