I installed the diablo chip and the switch. It is programmed for premium and 87 octane and stock. I presume stock is the middle postition and it starts fine in the middle.
How do I tell which position is which for the other two programs. Can anyone tell me how to figure this out?
There weren't any instructions explaining connecting or positions of the switch.
Is there anyway to tell if the whole unit is working. I switch from one position to the other on the fly and no difference, no coughs or anything to indicate a change. I presume this is normal. But I want to know what the indications are (before the I have to take the whole thing apart again to make sure the switch remained plugged in. I pulled it out once already unknowingly.
Is there a way to tell?
It seems like it may be working the shifts seem a little firmer. It also seems quicker. But I would like to verify that everything is working independent of the performance of the engine which isn't drastically different in my case so far.
The chip is not shift on the fly, the ignition needs to be shut of to change settings. They supply a large peice of logo'd tape to put over the opening on the computer case to keep it plugged in.
I just bought the Diablo chip for my 5.4 s/d and cant tell any seat of the pants on normal driving, but stomp on it and there is a big improvement in performance.
Correct. The chip will switch between two performance modes on the fly, but not between performance and stock. One good way to tell there's a difference is to give it about 100 miles purely in the perf mode. After that switch it back... ugh!
thanks Ken...I have it in the performance mode. I will drive it for a week. It does seem to shift a lot quicker so it must be working. I will switch it back after awhile and see how doggy it gets. It is
there when I floor it. Unfortunately, I never floored it very often before I got the chip so I don't have a good baseline.
So from whay you told me the middle postion (labeled off on the switch) is the 87 performance and the side farthest away from the groove is the stock postion? Just wanted to verify that so I can label it on my dash.
