The thermocouple must be in the heat stream to register. If its "just sticking into the manifold" it would make sense that it reads low. On a traditional install your thermocouple would be sticking up at least an inch into the heat stream inside the pipe/ manifold.

That's what I'm thinking. I dont think it's getting enought exhaust gases on the sensor. I'll probably just end up drilling and tapping the manifold and cap the fitting where the ebpv tube was.
Ok, so I drilled and tapped the sensor in front of cylinder #1. Now I get 200-300 on idle and 300-600 around town, which sounds about right. Gonna test it out on the highway later tonight. Thanks guys!
I don't think it will read right under WOT run's...its hard to tell around town...you should have a gauge in the right location to compare too..be interested to hear what you find..that port is where ill have a boost gauge for back PSI readings when the new motor goes in...
