Take a look at the website: GE NIGHTHAWK automotive bulbs : GE Consumer & Industrial Lighting: Products The Nighthawk bulbs do NOT even come in the correct number (H13/9008) for the 2009 + F150's!!!! Hell, their damn vehicle selector stops at MY 2007!!!

A search for H13 turned up few choices. Most of which were the blue coated ricer bulbs. The sylvania xtravision appear to be the logical choice right now.

I can't believe they don't make them for the newer trucks. I guess Sylvania has one up on GE for that. I did not realize that the newer trucks use 9008 instead of 9007.

Hey, I didn't mean to bust your ***** on this headlight topic. I can absolutely see both sides. What I really wish is that there would be an HID option for these trucks. My 08 Mustang has HID's and there awesome. I couldn't believe that my '10 F150 which was ~$15k more (sticker) didn't have them.

Thats alright. Since you mentioned HID, here is my .02 on them. They are bright, but I do not like them and feel that the do not belong on any vehicle. They give off, what I call false colors and they glare at oncomming drivers. My biggest beef with HID is people retrofitting halogen lights with the junk ebay kits. Those produce escessive glare. I hate when I have to drive towards someone who has done this.

HIDs don't work unless they have a reflector and lense designed for them. The afterfit kits are fun to think about, but they just do not work in a car they weren't designed for.
They are uncomfortable to look at when a car is heading your way with them. The factory made HIDs are much more effective and easier to look at coming at you.

LED headlights are pretty bad ***... I wish the aftermarket would start adopting them. We ran a test on our transit fleet and are thinking of retrofitting the younger fleet. Nobody makes them in aftermarket housings for our cars, but they do make LED headlights for the generic headlights found on older cars and trucks and heavy equipment. I know these guys are not a site sponsor, but they're the only ones who make a bonafied LED headlight that has the proper beam pattern... now if only someone would stick the par 36's in a headlight housing... Here's where they are: J W Speaker - Engineered Lighting Solutions: Model 6130 PAR36 LED High Beam & Low Beam Headlamps. And yes, that beam pattern has been verified by our bus maintenance crew.

I have seen those on someone's classic car at the local cruise night. I'm not at all a fan of them. They do the same thing as HID as far as producing what I call false color. They are also pretty dang ugly. The ones I saw weren't black like the ones you linked to, but they were ugly just the same.

LEDs have been slow to catch on. Some car makers have experimented with them. The results have been lack of control over the light beam, and a huge outcry from the public for ruining the "look" of a car. they are ugly.

IMO, Audi is the only manufacturer that has pulled off the use of LEDs in an attractive manner. I love the look of their DRLs in that swooping arrangement.

Audi is pressing forward it seems. I know a few car makers used LEDs on their show/concept cars and the responce from the media/customers was unfavorable...Subaru for instance.

In referance to this thread however, I think the xtravision bulbs I have right now are much improved over the stock bulbs in both headlamp and fog lamp.
No need to reinvent the wheel. So many people have turned to lighting for cosmetic purposes and it's just not safe or effective.
