Need some input for my bad memory.

Still, but cutting as much as I could (only about 1"), the tank filled up much better adn much quicker.... until I noticed diesel pouring out from under the truck!!

!!Now I need to drop the tank again and find out if I damaged the fill line while re-installing, but I suspect I just didn;t get the screw-on ring back on tight enough.
Anyway... here are my questions.
I did not discover rubber hose on the quick connect flex lines... they were hard flex poly lines which are molded onto the hard tubing. I don;t remember seeing that when I did the intanks and pre-pump mods on my truck several years ago.
1. Sooo.... do I just shave off the poly lines while beign careful to not damage the hard line with the blade?
2. Also... the quick connect was so doggone close to the inlet on the fuel pump that my fuel line tool doesn't fit in to remove the quick connect. How do I take care of that one?
Thanks guys!
2. See #1. Those disconnect tools either work great, or are a PITA. If you're getting rid of the quick connect at the fuel pump, either cut the fitting off, or yank out the plastic U shaped clip that helps hole the line in place.
Yes, I've looked at Guzzle's site frequently. Regarding the inline filter.... not in yet because I was holding off until I replaced the plastic tubing with fuel hose. My tank was clean, so I'm just taking my chances on this load of fuel until I can get it low enough to transfer into containers. My personal preference is to leave the existing hard line in place and only replace the flex portions with the new hose.
Chris... thanks for the confirmation. The tools work great where there is plenty of room to get it into position, but that's not the case at the entrance to the pump... just too closely coupled. Given our normal mileage per month, it will take nearly a month ofr me to get back to this again, but I will certainliy do it because I have to find/fix the leaking situation and also get that filter in line.
Thanks guys.
The fitting in the fuel pump can be taken out. It will turn inside the quick-connect and unscrew from the pump.
Then maybe you can get the quick-connect disconnected.
Then you can just put the fitting back in the pump.

I appreciate the suggestion, and might would have done that a few years ago, but I've found that a c-clamp on either side of the filter connection works perfectly (I use two short blocks of wood to prevent damaging the hose).
The older I get the cheaper I get (which is also affected by having just spent a year living on my savings with not enough income to cover living expenses).
