I want to put new injectors on my 85 ford 6.9.
When doing this is it easiest to remove the oil filler tube, diconnect the lines at all the injectors and the line back to the fuel filter and then the piece that the IP attaches to. Therefore getting the pump and all the lines out of the way b 4 I start. I am also going to replace my Autolites, even though they still work with MC.
Just wondering if it is easier if all the lines are out of there?
Do not remove the piece the injector pump bolts to!
Doing so there is a very good chance you will have to remove the front of the engine to get it back in time. You could remove the injector lines from the pump, but I never have any trouble leaving the injector lines on when doing glows or injector replacement.
Thanks, I have taken the glowplugs out b 4 but not the injectors, and saw that "pump removal method" on the internet. Seemed like extra work to me too. Just wanted some re assurance it was. I'll leave it in.
thanks again
I just replaced my injectors on my 84 6.9 and I found it easiest if you take the injector line separators off when I start. I did one side of the engine at a time. You don't have too loosen the lines at the pump because they will move out of the way of the injector plenty far enoungh to get the holes cleaned up and the new injector in place and tourqed down (35 ft/pds).
