STARTING ISSUES

Bought an 07, 108k, ran like a champ for the first 2 months. Bought some inexpensive fuel, and problems started. Eight out of ten times, it starts right up. The other two times, whether hot or cold, no pattern, the engine acts as if it has no fuel, and I must toggle the ignition switch many times to get fuel to the engine. Now today, after running down the highway with no trouble, I tried to leave a red light, and had no power when I stepped on the accelerator. I got it in neutral, stomped on the accelerator, and it fired back up, and got me home. I have added diesel clean and replaced both fuel filters. Now it won't idle properly. Any ideas? HELP!

Suspect:

If you are seeing no codes, no CEL...

You got carbon lodged somewhere.

You did the right thing re neutral and rev a few times.

Run the italian tuneup,

Add 2X dieselkleen concentration

Run the italian tuneup again.

Have you cleaned the EGR valve lately? Plenum?

If not, pull EGR valve, inspect, and show us pictures...

Follow EGR relearn / computer reset...

The EGR valve appears to have two bolts holding it the top of the engine. Do I remove those, or do I twist the unit out? And, if I unplug it, will that affect anything? I appreciate your help.

1. Consult tech folder in sub-forum.

2. Refrain from multiple forum posts...

3. Yes. Instructions in (1).

Mark, the pro in here... have a great pictorial series on how to do it right.
