ARP studs...did I get the complete set?

Just got my head gaskets and studs for my 6.0l. The arp stud set only has the 20 long studs, 20 washers and 20 nuts. I assumed it would come with the smaller studs as well.

Am I missing some of the set or is this standard? The part number is 250-4202.

Most pics that I see advertising the 6.0l kits have the smaller studs, with a total of 34 bolts, nust and washers.

Just counted my set. There are 20 bolts, nuts and washers. All the kit is is just the head studs and hardware to install them.

Not that I will ever do this...

But... surely something like ARP branded head studs are a standard high strength bolt that can be purchased from industrial equipment suppliers?

They look to me just like aerospace grade fasteners.

Now you have given me a challenge!

Next time I am overseas, I am going to look for a supplier that can deliver the same or better strength bolts.

Seems like a lot of effort to save money. Talk to the sponsors they are expensive but deals are made.

I am not trying to save money.

Since I have zero intention or need for ARP studs.

Just want a challenge to see if I can find a supplier to undercut their prices by what I believe to be 75 to 90%.

As long as I got the whole set thats good news. Can I reuse the smaller bolts or do I need to get a new set? OEM?

What smaller bolts are you refering to? I was under the impression the only bolts not to reuse were the tty head bolts that attach the heads specifically.

There are 5 bolts below the intake that secure to the block. You can see the holes on top of the head in the second picture, and they are reusable. Page 14: 6.0L Power Stroke Features

If you are referring to the five 10mm head bolts that secure the top of the cylinder head to the block, yes they are reusable.

Yes, I am referring to the 10 (5 per head) small bolts closest to the intake manifold. They go through the head and into the block.

If you get them from a sponsor they come out to about $40 bucks for 1 stud, washer, and nut. I agree it is expensive but from what I saw short of high strength aerospace fasteners they are the only game in town. If you could find them cheaper and market them you may be on to something.
