#2 Injector

I replaced the #2 injector twice. This time, it only lasted 3 days before acting up. My scanner just says #2 misfire. Is there anything upstream that would cause chronic problems for a single cylinder?

I'm switching plugs, coil, and injector with #1 right now and going to see if it is a parts problem or something isolated to #2.

Any stories of frustration with a happy ending would be most appreciated so I can narrow this thing down.

Only change one part at a time, like the coil or the injector. If you do all at once, you wont know which part is the problem. That's assuming the problem follows the moved part.

Im in the same boat as you. Except I got a number 7 misfire. 2 weeks ago they changed the fuel injector on that side and now its acting up again. They are changing the cam phaser now to see if thats it. Should have had the truck back today but waiting on a gasket.

A cam phaser wont cause a misfire on one cylinder. Make sure the connectors for the coil and injectors are fully locked in place. Then you can switch the coil with another cylinder to see if the misfire moves. If it doesn't, most likely the plug is bad.
