grinding noise?

Noticed yesterday that there is a ginding noise comming from the wheel hub that I hear as the wheel turns in tempo with the wheel turning. I need to replace the wheel cylinders as they are leaking. Wheel bearings were packed recently. Could it be the brake shoes?

Front or rear? Regardless, you need to pull the wheel and check. Don't take any chances.

Pretty sure its the rear. I'm just wondering if the leaking wheel cylinders could cause this? As the wheel turns the grinding noise happens. In other words its off for a spit second and on for a spit second speeding up or down to the speed of the truck.

Don't see how a leaking wheel cylinder would cause this. You need to pull the wheel and see whats going on. It could be worn brake shoes but don't take any chances. Tear it down and see whats causing it and fix it.

Sorry I havent been on the site for awhile. Yeah I jacked the truck up and manually spun each rear wheel forward and backward and didnt hear anything at all. Put it back down on the ground and drove it only to find the grinding noise was totally gone. Really dont know what happened, but probably had something hung up in the hub?

Could've had a little rock stuck against the brake drum that fell out when you jacked it up, or something along those lines.
