You really didn't give anyone much to go on here.
What kind of noise? Does it follow wheel rotation? Engine RPM????
Is it a constant tick, chirp, grinding sound?
Is it just a single thud?
its like a grinding clunking noise, seems like it comes from the front left when backing with the wheel turned to the right. Can feel it in the steering wheel also
Is your truck 2WD or a 4x4? If a 4x4, do you have manual hubs or ESOF?
Any pull to one side while braking? Any odd odors?
What exactly do you feel in the steering wheel? A thump? A vibration? Does it change with speed, steering angle or direction of turn? Do you notice anything while moving forward?
Boy, that's a can of worms question.
Like the others have asked, need more detail about your truck, year, 4x4, etc.
It could be your transfer case, differential, u joints, wheel bearing, stub axle bearing, front axle, brakes, steering assembly, ball joints, etc.
Try searching in this forum. I just pulled up your heading and got 500 hits. Many not related of course but still a good place to start.
Grinding or clunking noises only come from resistance related issues, mostly lubrication.
Detail, detail, detail...

Has it done this 1 time, 10 times?
Maybe even stones in your brakes?
When I pull off to the left from a stop, I get a clumping sound which seems to be from front left. It only happens when pulling a trailer and I have not noticed to the right. Truck has 41 k highway miles on it and I have noticed it since when I bought it att 25 k miles
