Hi all, I am going to take my ficm out tonite (2005 F-350 6,0)
Is there anything I need to know?
How about the connectors underneath do I have to manually unclip them, must I be delicate?
I didn't find anything in a search on actual removal.
Remove the air cleaner. Disconnect the coolant degas bottle from the cowl (two 8mm bolts) and cap off the ends that you disconnect the two small rubber coolant hoses from. A 10mm and 8mm stubby gearwrench comes in very handy for this job. Remove the air intake/front FICM upper mounting bracket (two 8mm bolts and two 10mm nuts) and the rear FICM upper mounting bracket (two 8mm bolts). Using finesse, disconnect the three FICM connectors. There are two lock tabs on each connector that you squeeze and pull. This instruction applies to late-2004 to 2006 model years. Late 2006 and 2007 use four big 10mm "washers" to secure the FICM to the mounting bracket.
Hey cmcowboy, what did the ficm cost and where did u get it? If u don't mind me asking. New or refurbed?
Finally got mine out, I read mchan68's post too late. I got it out without disconnecting the degas bottle. The clips underneath are a doozy I am sure some of the neighbors could hear me cussin. Still looking for someone to repair the solder points though.

I ordered mine from Swamp Diesel in TN. I also thought about re-soldering mines as well. But if there happens to be something else wrong with it besides the solder joints then my re-soldering would be no good. Then if you happen to have sloppy re-soldering joints or ruin something re-soldering it then you have just lost your core money.
I paid $400.00 for a refurb one plus a core charge that I will get back when I send them mine.
I took mine off and soldered it. And I also didnt take the degas bottle out, I just pulled it to the side. Soldering mine didnt work, so I ordered one offline it was refurbished with yr warranty ($425 free shipping) and working great.
