ok,, not an intake question..ha ha.... when i come to a stop, press the brake, when i let off the brake to go forward i can feel a tiny clunk,, maybe its not a clunk cause that sounds bad,, but its something. Its so small, no one else in the truck even feels it. No sound, just a feeling. The truck shifts perfect, no slip, no hesitation, nothing at all, just this little thing. Does the transmission show codes if anything wrong?? I have no codes so does that mean all is well?? The truck has 78000 on it with no problems. I cant say when the fluid/ filter was changed since i got the truck with maybe 45000 on it. I know nothing has been done tranny wise since i've had it. My next project is to do that? (except of the intake...he he) Could it be maybe low in fluid?? Maybe its nothing but just wondering... thanks..
Transmissions in these things are nearly bulletproof.
Check for u-joints, and also front end first.
I love your positive attitude on the transmission gearloose. I lost my transmission at 44,689 miles. I am now the proud owner of a 2008 case and parts as well as a few upgrades. Yes I drove it farther then I should have when it started leaking but with two feet of snow on the ground I wasnt letting her go. I did keep lots of fluid in it but it ate itself to death, so part was my fualt and I was willing ot pay the cost. $5,500.00 later I have a nice tranny and TC.
Edit: Sorry, back on topic now. Check your slip joint in the driveline. I think there is something in the tech folder about it.
Yes the filter change is good. When I got done redoing my motor I just did a filter and fluid change with only 14,000 miles on the new trans. That was a little fast but I figured it wouldnt hurt.

How is this a case for the transmission being bad? you said yourself you drove while the fluid was leaking... I don't care how good a transmission is if you run it low on fluid it is going to break.

By my depraved standards, you waited too long for your fluid change:

I never said it was a bad transmission at all. I was saying it is not bulletproof. It was never low on fluid. I did say it was my fault also fo not having it tore down earlier. Yes the new case was because I drove it and a piece fianlly came apart. It cost me double of what it would have if I took it in that day. I dont tow allot either, 4-5 times a year and about 5,000 pounds so I didnt torture it.
I guess your right, I need to change everything more often. I have done 16 oil changes in 58,845 miles so I am pretty close there. 2 coolant changes in that mileage and 7 fuel filters. I wil start trying harder on my maintenace.

My theory is to front end load the oil changes with relatively cheap oil (dino that meets spec, but no more) when the vehicle is new.
Likewise for tranny, differential, coolant..
Once I am done with the flushing --- the goal is to get rid of crud that was left in there from the manufacturer and also wear metal particles, I go with the normal factory schedule, with top grade fluids.
The flushing process is far more important than most people realize.
Next time you buy a new vehicle --- jack it up, pull magnetic drain plug for a moment --- see how much metal shavings is on it.

+1 for the slip joint. I had similar symptom, I followed the procedure in the tech folder to regrease the slip joint in the drive shaft and no more tiny clunk.
