A mechanic told me to beware of diesal Excursions because the new fuels are rotting the gas tanks. I tried googling it but could not find anything. Has anyone heard of this?
Thanks in advance
They've been around for awhile, but I first met with Cody and his crew June of 2008 when my original hpop was failing. I had no clue how to fix it and since Cody knew how, he offered to help at no charge as long as I joined up and my truck bore their name. I had no problem with it and I get complements everywhere I go about the truck and sticker. Good group of guys too, hadn't seen them in awhile though...
Gas tanks rotting out only happens in the north from liquid salt that is spread on the roads for winter. It happens to all gas tanks, not just diesels. And brake lines, fuel lines, oil pans, oil coolers, spring perches, etc.

Yikes! Glad I don't live up north!
The brake lines are what happened to Bob (Cardiac69) with his travel trailer in tow. One of his lines ruptured and if it wasn't for his trailer brakes....
Thanks for all the info. The salt damage you speak of is usually external. I was told that the gas tank rot is internal, caused by newer diesal gas in tanks that are not new. But since nobody has every heard of it, I will assume the mechanic was mistaken.
Thanks again.
