New Truck: 66 f-100

I am new to the 60's trucks, have a bunch of dentsides but couldnt pass this one up. It was on craigslist for 3 weeks or so, has a rebuilt 352, toploader tranny, cam, dual flowmaster 40s and a really solid body. IT was originally sitting on a farm in NC, driven to connecticut and then worked on and driven daily, then sat for atleast 2 more years until i bought it last week. I buffed up the paint which came out pretty good and now I am in the process of going through everything and replacing weatherstripping etc. Ended up getting it for $3200 with an extra hood, tailgate, inner fender, full set of shop manuals and the original owners manual.

That truck for $3200 is just this side of theft. Great buy. I have a lot more in my truck than that, and it doesn't look near that nice.

Thanks, I couldnt believe it hadn't sold by the time I called on it. It wasnt as pretty when i picked it up but somebody loaned me a buffer and it cleaned up pretty good. I bought it from a guy who had lost interest/ was going through a divorce and i think he just wanted some cash for it. Its hard to come by these trucks in this shape in the northeast here.

That color brings back good memories. I learned to drive in a 1965 that was the same color. Congrats!

Great buy. When people go to sell these trucks or cars for that matter, they fail to understand what the eyes see. If a person takes the time to polish and detail, that person can get more for it. To the right person, such as yourself, you most likely saw it (in your eyes) polished and detailed. So for $3200.00 and a couple hours polishing you have a beauty. I know your keeping it but... you can probably make your money back plus $500.00 - $1000.00 just for a little elbow grease and a polisher.
Good job.

Thanks for all the great comments, I actually did some research based off information in the owners manual and was able to locate the original owner who bought it new in nov. 1965. I called him tonight and I think he was a little confused at first, claiming that the truck was in his garage and not for sale. He then said "oh wait I sold it back in 1990, drove it for 25 years and sold it to a young man who was studying to be a priest and needed it to haul wood in the mountains." He sold it for 725.00, and paid $2332.00 for it new. The original owner is 85 now and seems to maybe be losing his short term memory, but he sure can recall the details from the past though. I asked him about some bondo work on the rear right bed side and he could re-call the accident saying that he was pulling out of a lot and somebody clipped him and sent him up a banking, all the pipes flew off his rack that was on the truck at the time. I told him that the truck was still in great shape and he told me I should go ahead and buy it, I told him I already did and he said it was a great truck. I asked him if he wanted to see some pictures of it now and he replied "ohhh noo they took my keys away from me!".......Im guessing he thought i was gonna bring it down for him to drive or something. I think I'll still send some pictures down there anyway, he was getting really into it and was sorry to not have more information. A very interesting phone call, wasn't sure that the Original owner would be alive still.

That's a pretty cool story, and I guess when you get down to it, all of the trucks probably have some cool history. You got one heck of a deal there, and it's funny,
often times when there is a steal of a deal where you get one heck of a truck for very little....there was a woman involved.

Ya a rebuilt toploader was swapped in when the engine was rebuilt. Hopefully I never find myself in a situation where a woman caused me to get rid of my trucks! I know how it goes, as I have snapped up alot of good deals on trucks and equipment from divorces etc.

Very good buy.
Mine was not very expensive but not in great shape either. I rescued it from a farm where the rodents had taken residents and nearly destroyed it.
It has a lot of rust but not to severe except in the floor. I hope it's ok to post a link to a pic here.
