you guys need to just let this go i guess. First off,, i wasnt really even asking the question for hp gains. i was interested in sound. Now i'm sure thats silly but if you wish to argue this some more,, then least argue toward what is louder so i can read something that helps me..lol
I think I covered that very well since you are the final decision on what you want. If you want more noise put an 03 turbo on your truck and drive the neighbors dogs wild...

That would be better then the intake all the way around. Give you more sound(particularly down low, kinda disappears up high at interstate speed(my a/m turbo is the opposite, screams up high, very little down low)) and doesn't have the negative issues like the ones associated with the a/m intake.
Plus the 03 turbos actually have been shown to be able to support about 15 more HP. Now you would have ot overfuel it a little bit to yoke that extra HP with an 05 on up 6.0, but that's easily able to do.
All you would really need is the 03 pedestal and turbo to swap out with the 05 and you'll be good to go.
You can find them in classifieds all over the net for anywhere around $400-$600, and let me tell you that's sound will be much louder than any intake can do. I love the sound of my 03 turbo.
so does the intake really make that much of a difference in sound. and what kind of sound are we talking about turbo sound? IM guessing the exhaust sound is the same, its just the sound from under the hood changes?

I just posted a video of the sound. The intake seems to resonate with the exhaust. I think it has something to do with harmonic phasing since the exhaust pulse directly affects intake noise thru the turbo. I don't know if it is the camcorder mic or my speakers but a lot of the higher frequency sound seems to be missing from the video especially turbo whine. Mic tends to boost low sounds it seems. There is significanly more turbo noise with intake than with stock. At the end you can here some excess boost when I let off.
Anyway the run is stock tune and no water meth injection. It sound way more aggressive when I got a race tune and injecting. Here is the video
