Yeah, that is impressive. Glad to hear that you've had such good results. I think about half of the 4R100 owners that I've met have had troubles and the other half had no issues at all. With the weights you've been towing, I would have bet that you would have had issues. I love being wrong with those sorts of things. There is probably some luck involved but could mostly be a direct result of driver use as well.

Too bad we didn't discover that post from the Ford website sooner. Seems well written and straight to the point. Keep trans from hunting and you are good. I probably should have kept it that simple in my original post. I get wordy sometimes....

Cool that you found that info on the web though....even cooler that you posted it.

Interesting debate. And I learned something, which is always good for me.

I hope the OP made it home without issues...

I remember one major issue with the 4R100 in the SD trucks. Reverse is pretty tall. Lots of people burned them up trying to back trailers, into RV spots etc. Mine was equipped with manual lock outs and when reversing a load into a job site, using low range with the hubs unlocked allowed me to get the job done without running hard against the TC. That, watching the temp and regular service probably had a lot to do with it.
