Gear Ratio?
Gentleman,
Just got back my newly studded truck. Definitely excited! Now I am looking to get a tuner. I am wondering how I determine my gear ratio? I was asked that by a tune writer!

Remove the rear (or front) diff cover and count the number of teeth on your crown and pinion gears. There are 41 teeth on the ring gear. The pinion has 11. Now divide 41 by 11 to give you 3.73.

There should be a decal on your door jamb with a bunch of codes, one marked Axle Code. There is a code chart in the top of Superduty Forum call SuperdutyTechfolder and possibly the 6.0L Diesel Techfolder that should tell you axle ratios and whether or not it is Limited Slip or other locker equipped. I agree though, you most likely have the 3.73 gears. My 07 SD 6.0 truck does.
