Casting number confusion

Casting number confusion

I have a 1994 - f-350 4x4 4 door xlt 460/v8 long bed.
every place i have called has told me my Casting number on my heads Are
F3TE's hell even rockauto.com said the same thing ..
Problem is i just took out my eninge for a rebuild and my heads are E8TE's ??
any advice ?
i am the sec owner of my truck , and i can not locate the Org owner,
when the motor was pulled out it looked like the Org engine from the factory ..panit job and all any advice ?

Back when these trucks were made engine castings were not modified every year so it is quite possible to have E8(1988) heads on a '94 truck. I don't know the big block motors at all so I can't say what casting numbers do exist but as an example the E7TE(1987) SBF heads were used on regular production small block V8's right up until 1997.

so can I put f7te's on my engine I mean does it matter ?
