I have a 92 E350 RV with 460 engine. Started normal a few months ago now no fire. I say normal but the switch doesn't always turn over, you have to turn it just right and hold your mouth right while standing on one foot, if you know what I mean. But it started.
Now it turns over fine but no fire. I have changed the coil and the ignition switch and have found that while trying to start it if I wiggle the shifter it will try to fire (screwdriver in plug wire and against ground). I first found that if I put it in neutral it would fire, so I started putting it back together with the intention of just putting it in neutral to start.
My question is this. It is now my opinion that the neutral start switch is bad and there appear to be no adjustments for it, but is there something else that could cause this, ie ignition lock cylinder.
Well, I changed out the neutral safety switch and that didn't solve the problem, it does have an adjustment, I even put it in a couple other positions with no more luck.
It still doesn't turn over every time, sometimes it takes a couple times, then it will but I'm still not getting spark until the engine has stopped turning.
The neutral safety switch has nothing to do with spark. Just cranking.
Start by unplugging the computer and see if you then get good spark (note that it will not start with the computer unplugged as the injectors will not fire).
If you now have good spark change out the computer.
If still no spark take off the ICM (TFI module) and have it tested at an auto parts store.
If it is bad replace it.
If the ICM is good replace the distributor.
Thanks, Unplugged it and it fires, plug it back in, no fire.
Also it took over 20 turns of the key to get it to turn over. Then it turned over a few tries, then took about 11 tries to get it to turn over again.
It seems the more it turns over the better it gets.
This isn't related is it?
No it is not related, you more than likley have a bad spade connector down on your starter solenoid.
Just cut it off and about an inch of wire, strip it and crimp on a new spade connector.

Somebody beat me to it. I cut a few inches off it was not very flexable and spliced new on. Starts everytime now.

Disconnected it got good spark. Reconnected it and no sparky.
New one should be here next wk.
Try cleaning the battery cables where they hook to the battery.
That was the very first thing I did in this endeavor.
I checked the solenoid by the battery and it didn't send power out to the starter solenoid. But now its starting.
So I'll wait and check to make sure power is activating the solenoid, hopefully its just the solenoid and I won't have to go back any further, fingers crossed.
I had to change the relay for the starter solenoid on my last RV trip as it would not start at an RV park when we got ready to leave. I had to put my spare relay on before it would start. Yes I carry one with me.
Not much space on the contact to conduct with. The white part in non conductive.
