Just make sure the contacts are clean, smear them in some dielectric grease, and make sure the battery is unhooked. My personal preference is to keep the battery completely unhooked, but I don't know if you can have just one battery cable or the other unhooked and be okay.

Yeah I'd say she's fried alright...

Double check ALL wiring leading to the computer and make sure none of the insulation has rubbed thru. You should probably also check your grounds as well.

my 93 F150 burned the same exact way on Tuesday. I went looking for a new computer at the junk yard but someone already pulled them all. And a new one is several days away.

after some horse trading, ny 92 150 cost me around 500. It ran for a thousand miles okand now the fuel pumps keep running so everyone agrees it's 'puter time. They say there's no real way to check the computers so I wonder a) how they build them in the first place and b) how do they test them after a Nashville rebuild? I asked the jyard guys if there were like 10 different ones for 1992 and he said more like 40 so I have to pull mine out and get the actual numbers off it and hope that's the problem. Tell me again why we like these trucks?

Another reason that I'm switching to a carb'ed setup! I don't need the extra aggravation!

check all of your grounds. they computer itself has to be grounded as well. this is most of the time acomplished through the mounting or sometimes there is a separate ground wire.Faulty wiring is usually to blame for computer problems.
