I have developed an issue.. I have about 2 good stomps of the brake pedal then the pedal gets hard like i have no brakes.. Give it a little bit and a normal pedal returns.. Im not losing fluid, i have checked all 4 corners and the master cylinder is full.. With a good pedal coming back Im leaning towards vacumn pump.. Any other ideas?

In my case it was calipers. But the pump is a good bet too. Since its intermittent and if the heater controls are working normally (vacuum controlled) I'd look to the calipers.
i have the same problem right now!i just replaced the pads on the front, the pedal is really soft now and if i press down on the pedal a few times in a row then i gets hard and i have almost no brakes!------at first i thought calipers, but i replaced them about 7,000 miles ago,so now im thinking the master or vacuum!!!let me know what it ends up being!!!
sounds like what mine was doing last winter, was able to switch vents and the vacuum pump was making vacuum, so i replaced master cylinder, wasn't it, replaced vacuum booster, nope same thing, then i was like screw it, threw a vacuum pumped at her and been great ever since, guess it is just not making enough fast enough where you have to wait for it to rebuild in the booster
