running boards

hey just a quick question that I'm sure you can help me with looking to get a passenger side running board for a 1950 ford f1. Not sure what a good company to go through for this would be all that I have seen come in pairs and seem really expensive. Thanks for any help you can give

7C16450F .. Passenger Side Running Board-70 1/4" long / Obsolete

Fits: 1948/52 F1 pickup / No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

Bob Drake reproduces these boards, but sells them as a pair only for $550.00. Carpenter does not list them.

Try the following sources for a used running board: vintageparts.com / earlyfordstore.com / c&gfordparts.com.

Expenses: You think you bought a truck,. but what you really bought was a hobby...and hobbies tend to be expensive.

If you don't mind fiberglass you can get either side separately or both from Bebops Glass-Works. I believe they are around $140 each. If it were mine I'd get a pair and then sell the driver's side board. I have fiberglass boards on my 48 from Bebops and they have held up well.

Its the only spot of rust on the whole truck. That and someone decided at some point to cut both of them to put stacks up through them, but for now i was just gonna replace the one and later deal with the exhaust and what replace both because of the huge chunks the cut out to fit the stacks through

Before you go and toss the ones you have you might consider fixing them. If you do decide to replace them there's a good chance that someone around here would be interested in the old ones. They could be used as patch panels, etc.

It also seems to me there are two different styles!

I remember a conversation here about that, but don't remember if it was year particular or plant particular. But I thought it had something to do with upper edge and how they tuck up under the truck cab???????!!!!!!.

Does anyone remember?

The difference was the extra flanges on the running boards. I believe that the difference wasn't plant specific or year specific. So far it's been one of those unexplainable things. However, it's been thought that the change occurred with the onset of the 51 model year. It takes less material and time to stamp running boards without the extra flange. Either way, both styles fit in the 48-52 model year span.

Here are some F1 boards with the extra flanges.

And here is another set of F1 running boards without the flanges.

Same differences (oxymoron??) occurred with short running boards and F2/F3 running boards.

I had always assumed they made the changes to the running boards mid year 1950 when they changed over to the flat sided bedsides.

Not sure where I got that little tidbit of info from somehow I have it stuck in my head.

I saw a driver running board at the swap meet last week that had a hole in it. ( I need the driver board.) I didn't think about stacks. I remember when quite a few different trucks sported them. I wish I had bought it and did as Julie commented by using my board to make a patch panel for it. Oh well, Maybe they'll be at the next swap meet in a few weeks.
