I have the 302c4 installed. I have 65 mustang exhaust manifolds and he drivers side will miss the steering colum but looks to be in the way of the brake pedal. The passenger side comes out directly in front of the transmission dipstick.
Any suggestions as to the right side and can the dipstick be heated and moved on the left.
Also the crank pulley has 3 groves and i would like to change it to 2 or 1. The pulley is a 1980 with four holes.
I have a 289/C4 in my 52 F1. Great set up. I had the same issues with the exhaust manny. There may be manifolds from another car that will clear your problems, but I don't know of any. Maybe someone will post a source. I got Sanderson headers which are vehicle specific. Another factor is your front suspension. Are you running stock or an IFS? I don't think heating the tranny dipstick is a good idea. If you're to close the heat will affect your tanny fluid. Hope this helps
That makes it simpler. I think some of the truck models with a 302 might work because they often dump down instead of back. There's just more room in the truck. It's a crap shoot. One might look like it fits, but it doesn't when you try to bolt it up. My suggestion is headers. There are alot of suppliers, if you need sources I'll be glad to post them. As far as the pully, that is a stock Ford(from the dealer) or junk yard item.
lgwitt, I can only give you my experience with changing out a pulley. I tried to man handle my motor into the frame by myself. (got in a hurry) Dropped the motor very slowly right down onto the pulley. I thought no big deal I'll just get another pulley. BIG DEAL! Mine is a 1978 351W 4 bolt. Found all kind on Epay and several friends had spares laying around they offered me. None of them lined up with all my other pulleys. I gave Bill (Number Dummy) the part# off my old one and he found 2 places that still had a few of them in stock. $90.00 plus shipping!!!! I just happen to get lucky and find the exact pulley a week later on Epay for $45.00 and free shipping. So make sure you check it real close if you already have the other pulleys installed. Hope this helps.
