Running Board Patch Panel:

I'm not sure how much help this will be for your F-1, but ssj7kids (Steve) and I collaberated on a ribbed patch panel for his 53 running board. The die was just two plates - one with a rib and one with a slot. The .050 thick part was formed by squeezing it together in a heavy vise. Worked out pretty slick.
Here is the link to his gallery about it: Mater Running Board Repair
The bottom line is that if you can't find an old board to canabalize, you can make you own patch.
Good luck.
