e4OD Transmission Problems

I have a 92 F150 4X4 with a e4od, bought the truck for $600 with the understanding that it needed a pump seal. Replaced the seal and couldnt get the truck to move, thought the clutches were burned up. Bought another trans and getting almost the same thing reverse works fine and could take it down the road, but put it in drive and thats it. I don't shift unless I put it in low 1 and take off then go to drive it will go through the gears. Reverse and low 1 will put load on engine but drive and low 2 puts very little load. Have read that it could be a sensor anywhere. Did a ECM test the only thing it came up with was trans not in park or neutral and I think the other was ACT sensor signal is less than the Self-Test minimum of 0.2 volts. Could the ACT have something to do with it not working right? Or could it be something else?

If I had it, I would try to find some documentation on what resistance the MLPS should show in the different shift linkage positions. Then with engine off and wheels blocked, I'd unplug the MLPS and ohm it in each of the positions.

That's what I would do, anyway.
