hi, i have a 2001 f250 superduty. it has the 5.4l triton which i keep blowing sparkplugs out of. i also have a 96 f150 with the 4.9l i6, ive been thinking about rebuilding the 4.9l because it has almost 170k on it and swapping the entire drivetrain into the f250.
i was wondering about how much it will cost to get the machine work done on the block. im thinking about boring .30 over getting everything spec'd out and having it magnafluxed. maybe even porting and polishing the intake. does anyone know about how much that would cost?
I agree with Harte3, just gonna have to get a quote from a shop, I had my stuff done from a private shop the deals with race cars and kinda need to know some one to get a number and get in line
had a mild to wild P&P done for $240 but had to wait 8 weeks on it
then off to another shop for valves and such for another $90.
no reason for me to bore or shave the head at 105K miles so cant be of any help there...
from what i have been told I got great prices on my work and the workmanship was there..... they did get tip'd good tho
k, thanks. what is the most you can get for compression safely? im thinking about a set of keith black flattop pistons instead of the dish style. and im pretty sure they would bump up the compression.
Machine shops are getting hard to find. Good ones really hard. I had problems with the racer oriented shops gettin to my stuff. They put it on the back burner, and especially at the beginning of race season. I found a Carquest about ten miles from home that did good work and about a 2-3 day turnaround.
