Leaking brake fluid by left front wheel

Went out to my 01 f250 this mornin and noticed it had leaked alot of fluid. I figured it was either powersteering fluid or brake. Well, I confirmed it was brake fluid now I need to find where it's leaking from and how I'm going to fix it. I drove the truck a little hard yesterday so maybe that's why it started leaking but I dunno.. Any ideas on what to look for, how much it'll cost me and can an amateur mechanic like me do this myself?

Welcome to FTE stipete77.

Most likely cause for a brake fluid leak at that spot is a cracked flexible hose. You can repair this yourself for well under $50 if you know how to bleed brakes.

Thanks redford! I'll check that hose tomorrow and hopefully that'll be the problem. I'll let ya know how it turns out.

If the proplem is'nt in the line, and you still can't find it, go to the parts store and get a leak kit. It's a dye that you add to the resivour (funny looking word). Then all you have to do is bleed the brakes to work the dye into the system, go to the carwash and clean under the hood really well, and then spend a little time with a black light looking for the purple glow. It will lead you right to the problem.

You didn't give a very good description of where the wet spot was, but it may be the cruise control pressure switch on the master cylinder.

This is where my leak was. I looked for a few days and couldn't figure out where it was leaking from. I looked at the connection for the cruise switch and brake fluid was leaking through the connection. I went to ford and bought a new pressure sensor for $27.00 and that fixed the leak.

Ok I think I found the leak, just tell me what y'all think and if it's even possible.. It looks like it's leaking from the brake pressure switch connector..? There are fresh stains directly below the plug and the wiring and wire covering are pretty soaked so could that be it?
The truck is pretty rickety, 190xxx miles and the other day I was drivin it hard so I'm thinkin maybe I jarred something loose.. Brake pressure switch connector?

If you're talking about the pressure switch on the lower front right of the master cylinder, that's it. There was a safety recall on that switch. You can check your VIN at the Ford website and see if that recall has ever been done on your truck. Or, you can look to see if there's an extra harness plugged in between the original plug and that switch. If it doesn't have that extra harness, which would have a couple of fuse holders in it, the recall hasn't been done. Ford will replace it for free if it hasn't been done already.
