Fast forward about another month, and the new brakes (stock) are installed on the front, king pin replacement went reasonably smooth and new tie rod ends on the way.
Here's my newest problem: finding bushings for the shock connectors to the springs. They aren't the "dogbone" style, but I'm sure those bushings would work here. I can't find any! I've checked all of the usual suspects and no luck. I can get shocks, etc but not the bushings. It looks like I may have to take one apart and measure it to see if I can find something that will work.
Any other suggestions??
I had the same issue with the Y in the 1/2 ton that I had. The frame matched the trans as well. Mine had a HD 4spd in it. Since the trans was serialized before the frame, I was thinking of some questions. I always wondered if the entire serial number was added at the engine plant? Basically they had 3 transmissions, the car, the light duty truck 3spd and the HD truck 4 spd. For the car and the LD 3spd they would know that they would be stamped with an "A" for the car and a "C" for the truck. I think that's true with the sedan delivery and the panel truck as well. But with the the HD 4 spd it could be stamped with a "C", "Y", "T" or other? So if they stamped these at the engine plant then shipped, they would basically have to guess how many of each truck would be built at each plant. I wonder if it was common for a "Y" to be dropped in a 1/2 ton because they didn't have a "C" stamped engine/trans combo available?
