Got a new to me 08 F250 V10. Pull a 10k 5th wheel. New to the torqshift. What's the deal, just push Tow/Haul and away we go? Tap the brake descending a steep hill?
Just puch the button and go. It will do all the calculations for you. If you do touch your brakes, it will do a little engine braking for you. I have learned on really steep climbs, take it out of tow/haul and manually accelerate. But going down the other side, I always hit tow/haul to assit the brakes. That tranny is tough also. You may get some hard downshifts, that seems like a common complaint on other RV forums, I just don't worry about it as I know in downshifting, it is not unusual to get a hard down shift or a hard upshift. I remember the days when we put shift kits in our cars as it helped when we ran quarter mile races. When it shifted, it would jerk pretty hard!
You about summed it up already. Put it in tow/haul and drive the truck. Going down hill and tapping the brake will get the tranny to downshift. This will provide engine braking to help hold the hills.
