I have a 2006 ford 450 with the V-10 gas engine and the 5 speed torqshift transmission. I do not like the way it shifts when in the tow/haul mode. Does any one know if it is possible to get the tow-haul re-programmed to a different shift pattern either by a dealer or an aftermarket place??
T/H mode is setup to keep the tranny in a gear longer, preventing the tranny from hunting through the gears,,,,really only seem to need it when towing Heavy trailers,,my trailer's can weigh in 5 to 8k lbs,,and I rarely use T/H mode,,,,mostly when braking,,,the braking feature works sweet on my truck!
I think if you change the shift points when in tow-haul mode it defeats the purpose which is to prevent gear hunting as m350 said above. On my truck the gear changes are not quite as smooth in tow-haul mode but I have always attributed that to the fact that the engine was at a higher RPM.
