Torqshift reliability

My dad is currently looking at buying a new F-250 to replace my moms explorer. He is planning on getting a 5.4 w/ Torqshift auto. Has anyone experienced any issues with the Torqshift. Thanks in advance!

Can you get the 5.4 ltr with the torqshift? I was under the impression that you can only get it with the powerstroke or the V10.

I haven't seen too many negative posts about the torqshift on the site. That's usually a good indication that it's been pretty reliable.

Since '05 the TorqShift is the only auto in the F250-F550 with all three engines.

the ts is a big strong unit and the only one i have worked on for a problem was in a high miles plow truck and all that was wrong was worn out clutch packs on the later ones the early ones had a planitary gear set problem that ford modified with bigger sets in mid 05. apart it looks a big as a alison from gm.
enjoy the new ride and don't worry. i imm don't think a 5.4 can pull that one apart very fast.
