Loud Thump

I have a 2004 Ford Exp. Eddie Baur edition. The other day when I turn the truck off, I would hear a loud thump. It seemed to be coming from the Drivers side rear wheel well. I took of the plastic bin/drink holders and under that was what looks to be a small electrical device. Can someone please let me know what it is? Amp? I unplugged the cable from this, and it seems t have solved my problem. Please advise.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Drivers side or passenger side?? I know you said drivers, but on the passenger side there is a blend door actuator that is prone to thumping located right under the change tray.

When you open the back hatch door, you would remove the plastic tray/bin above the drivers side rear tire. It looks like a small amplifier?

Don't know what that is. The blend door actuators for the rear climate control are on the other side, which is what I was referring to. When they break they thump. Did anything else stop wroking when you unplugged it?
