Question Differential Tag identification help

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I would sure like some help decoding the tag that was located on the early rear end I have just purchased.
<o></o>
The differential was removed from a forth generation f100 pickup. I have looked for tag decoding information and can’t seem to find anything. I know there are more resources out there. I would greatly appreciate some help decoding or pointing me to a source.
<o></o>
Here is the tag information.
<o></o>
First line of the tag
C1TT 4001 J 102
(the C1TT could be CITT) the tag is hard to read

Second line
3.70 1C
(3.70 I believe to be gear ratio and the 1c to be the date)
<o></o>
Thank you for any help you can provide
<o></o>
Steve

Welcome to FTE.

There may be some online sites, but I don't know of any.

I decoded the info using the 1957/63 Ford Truck Parts Catalog.

The 9" rear axle is essentially the same 1957/67, uses the same axle shafts (right/left is the same).

1968/72, there are two 9" rear axles.

One has a 9 3/8" ring gear, the other has slightly longer axle housing/axle shafts as the rear brakes changed in 1968 from the 11" x 1 3/4" used 1957/67 to 11" x 2 1/4"

1973/86 9's are wider still...because the width between the rear frame rails went from 33 1/2" (used prior to 1973), to 37 1/2"

Thank you very much for the info. One last question, if I read your information correctly. I understand you to say that from 1957 until 1967 the right and left side axle shafts are the same length? If I am reading this correctly I have just learned something. I thought one axle shaft was always longer by approximately 2 inches.

Did same length axle shafts also hold true for the cars?

thanks agian for the info

B7TZ4234A .. Axle Shaft-28 splines / Right/Left is the same / Obsolete

29 11/16" long from the splined end to the inside of the flange / 1 13/64" splined end diameter / 7 1/6" flange diameter / 5 1/2" bolt circle pattern.

Fits: 1957/67 F100 w/9" rear axle.

1965/72 Passenger Cars 9" axle shafts are right/left specific. I didn't look before 1965 or after 1972.
